Certified Organic, and Why It Sets Us Apart
One of our guiding principles as an intimate healthcare company has always been to use pure, natural, and organic ingredients in all of our products. But calling a product ‘organic’ doesn’t always stand for very much: ‘certified organic’ is where it’s at.
What is ‘Certified Organic'?
“An organic product contains ingredients that have been grown on an organic farm. Organic is a way of farming that works with nature. Certified organic farmers and businesses work to a strict set of standards. These ensure that their products sustain the health of wildlife, nature and people.” – The Soil Association.
Certified organic products are those that have met strict guidelines set by recognized organic certification bodies. These guidelines ensure that the ingredients are grown and processed without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), or other artificial additives. At AH! YES, our lubricants proudly carry the Soil Association Organic certification, which is one of the most stringent standards in the world.
Here's why this matters:
- No Nasty Chemicals: Certified organic means free from harmful synthetic chemicals that can disrupt your body’s natural balance.
- Environmentally Friendly: Organic farming practices promote soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity, making them kinder to our planet.
- Total Transparency: Certification means that an independent organization has verified our claims. It’s not just marketing—it’s a guarantee.
Why ‘Organic’ Can Be Misleading
Did you know that beauty and wellbeing products labelled as "organic" don’t always contain organic ingredients? The term can be used loosely, often with as little as a single organic ingredient, or even worse, without meeting any real organic standards at all. This lack of regulation can be misleading for consumers who believe they’re choosing healthier, safer options.
Unless a product is certified, there’s absolutely no guarantee it will be organic. To verify whether a product really is organic, look for a symbol from an independent certifier, like the Soil Association Certification that we carry on all of our products. That way, you'll know that every step of the production process is checked.
Why Organic Matters: What Goes On, Goes In
Up to 60% of what we apply to our skin gets absorbed into our bloodstream. Shocking, isn’t it?
This includes everything from lotions and cosmetics to personal lubricants. That’s because your skin, as the body’s largest organ, acts more like a sponge than a barrier – sucking things in, no matter what they’re made of.
- Skin Absorption Rates: Studies show that certain areas of the body absorb substances more readily than others. For example, underarms and genital areas can absorb up to 100% of what’s applied to them.
- Health Implications: When you use products containing harmful chemicals, those chemicals can enter your body, potentially leading to health issues. Parabens, often found in non-organic personal care products, have been linked to issues like endocrine disruption and reproductive harm.
AH! YES: Setting the Standard for Organic Lubricants
Because all of our products are organically certified by The Soil Association, our ingredients, manufacturing, bottling, packaging, and storage have to meet stringent organic purity standards. In fact, we are proud to be the world’s first (and best) certified organic range of intimacy products.
As well as ensuring our production methods are ethical and have a minimal impact on the environment, we regularly audit the trail of our organic ingredients from farm to bottle. With formulations that are designed to be side-effect free – containing no concerning chemicals, hormones, parabens, glycerine or known skin irritants – we source and use natural ingredients such as flax extract, aloe vera, cocoa and shea butters.
- Certified by the Soil Association: This certification ensures our products are made with the purest organic ingredients, free from harmful chemicals.
- Clear Ingredients: We list all of our ingredients for full transparency. You can trust that what’s on our label is what’s in our product.
- Health-Conscious Choices: Our products are designed to work in harmony with your body, enhancing your natural moisture without introducing unwanted chemicals.
Our commitment to certified organic ingredients isn’t just about ticking a box; it’s about delivering the highest quality of products possible to make vaginas happy.
